Not There Yet….

So much to do just to get STARTED! Getting ready for extended travel is daunting & overwelming!

Welcome to my first (travel) blog, although in truth I am not traveling at the moment. I am stationary at my current home base, Austin, TX. Having done enough road trips in the last year to know that I am truly a nomad at heart, I am in the preparatory phase of organizing myself so that I can hit the road for an extended period of time.

You might be wondering how one prepares for such a goal.

First, my home needs to be rented out so that I can afford to be traveling. So I am preparing the house for long-term renting. A daunting task. So far, I have painted the spare bedrooms, bathroom and hallway. Still have master bedroom, bathroom, Kitchen, Living room and hardest of all the Garage to paint. and maybe the exterior! I also have a few home repairs that need to be made. But first have to get the supplies and find someone to do them.

Then there is all the ‘STUFF’! Everything I want to keep but not have with me needs to get packed up for a storage unit. That which I don’t want to keep needs to be sold or donated somewhere.

Next there are a number of high tech needs that are on the list: Upgrade my phone, change provider & plan; then investigate & download various apps such as AllTrails, Trip planning apps, etc. And of course learn how to set up a blog.

VANETTE needs a little more work. Some would be nice to do while I still have access to my garage and tools/supplies but some may just have to wait til I am on the road and maybe find some fellow nomads to give advise and assistance.

And then there are the final steps: finding an rental agent to take care of things, setting up some necessities of nomadic life (mailing address, etc), cancelling home internet access, and what ever else is involved with renting one’s house out and not having a permanent address.

I was hoping to be on the road in January, but seeing as it is already Dec 1st, that may be somewhat unrealistic. Send some energy my way cause I sure need some extra to get all this done!

Happy Trails Y’All!
